Fabio Sgroi, born in Palermo. He approached photography in 1984, taking photographs of his friends, young people close to punk and underground music; in 1986 he worked for about two years with the newspaper "L’Ora" of Palermo. Fabio has been focusing his research mainly on his island Sicily but also in different Mediterranean countries, Eastern Europe and around the Balkans. In 2000 Sgroi starts to photograph with the panoramic format exploring urban landscape in many different cities in Europe focus on archeological and industrial sites. He took part of international projects and residence. Fabio Sgroi, nato a Palermo. Si avvicina alla fotografia nel 1984 scattando fotografie ai suoi amici, giovani vicini alla musica punk e all’underground; nel 1986 ha lavorato per circa due anni col quotidiano "L’Ora" di Palermo. Fin dall’inizio dedica il suo lavoro alla sua città e alla sua terra la Sicilia, concentrandosi sulle ricorrenze annuali, le cerimonie religiose e la vita quotidiana. Viaggia e lavora attraverso l’Europa e in diverse parti del mondo. Nel 2000 si concentra anche sul formato panoramico dedicandosi al paesaggio urbano e all’archeologia industriale. Prende parte a mostre collettive ed espone in mostre personali, in Italia e all’estero. La sua carriera include la partecipazione ad alcuni progetti internazionali e residenze.
